Taghmata Omnissiah

My main project is going to be the building of a Taghmata Omnissiah force. Now this will not mean a lot, even to some fellow hobbyists, but it is a very interesting faction. The Tagmata, which is Greek for for regiments, were the standing army of the Byzantine Empire as formed by Constantine V. This is not a historical blog, so here the Taghmata are the forces raised by an Imperial Forge World and are in essence, one of the main fighting force of the Mechanicum, forming a triad with the Skittarri regiments of Mars, and the God Engines of the Legio Titanicus. They are supported by the lesser former like the lesser engines of the Knight Houses, as well as the Legio Cybernetica.

But first, what is the Mechanicum. Within the Imperium, the galaxy spanning empire of man, lies a second,shadow empire, ruled from Terra's (old Earth) sister planet Mars. Here a culture or machine worship has arrisen, one that seeks out the great technology of man, and looks to harness it, and unlock it's secrets. It is also a culture of dogma, one where the machine's spirit is sacred, and the correct rites must be followed to maintain the machine. This is an incredibly paradoxical system, and one that has a large fan base within the game. And, u till recently, one that's not been served with models. But the great people at Forge World (the company) have turned their talents to bringing us models and rules.

My Taghmata Omnissiah (Omnissiah is the term for the Machine God they worship) is planned to be my main project. I like the mix of cyborg troops, with battle wetware controlled robots (True AI is banned, however biological based intelligence is used), tech thralls, a collections of criminals who have their minds wiped and left able to do one thing, point a las rifle and shoot, march next to Myridons, tech priests dedicated to using awesome weaponry. Massive robots stride in the shadow of knights and Titans. And all on the grim gothic style of the Warhammer universe.

For now I have built the first few of my cyborg Thallax, and robotic Castellex, but I am planning my first major conversion, the Archmagos who will lead my army. For now I will leave you with the list I plan to build:
